Logan named V.P. for Administration at Southern Seminary

R. Albert Mohler Jr., president of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary has appointed Clark Logan as Vice-President for Administration. Logan, who currently serves as Southern’s Director of Development, will assume his new duties on March 1.

“Clark is a tremendously dedicated Christian leader who will bring great gifts and leadership to his new post,” said Mohler. “[He] is well qualified in every respect and is already committed to Southern Seminary and its standard of excellence.”

Logan, 37, is a graduate of Delta State University in Mississippi with a degree in Business Administration. He also holds a Master of Business Administration from that same institution, and is a Master of Divinity graduate of the Billy Graham School of Missions, Evangelism and Church Growth. Logan is also on his way to earning a Doctor of Education degree through Southern Seminary.

“I am grateful for the faith that Dr. Mohler has shown in me,” said Logan. “I am honored and very excited for this opportunity to serve this great institution. But more than honored, I am humbled… I love this institution and understand the vital role Southern has in the training of ministers, and I want to do my best to help the institution thrive.”

“Clark knows the institution from a student’s perspective, from a recruiter’s perspective and from a donor’s perspective,” said Douglas Walker, the seminary’s Senior Vice-President for Institutional Relations. “He will be mindful of what is best for students, faculty, staff, donors and alumni.”

Logan’s appointment is part of a transition process pointing toward the August 1 retirement of T.J. McGlothlin, Southern’s Senior Vice-President for Institutional Administration. At that time, Logan will assume that office.

"Mr. McGlothlin is a wonderful Christian gentleman. He is a man of integrity. He has given 40 years of loyal and dedicated service to this institution. He is an example that I hope to emulate," said Logan.

McGlothlin, who has served Southern Seminary for more than 40 years will continue in the part-time role of Assistant to the President for Planning.

“In this part-time arrangement, T.J. will continue to offer invaluable support and leadership in the accomplishment of the Seminary’s Campus Master Plan,” said Mohler.

Logan and his wife Helen have three sons. They are members of Highview Baptist Church in Louisville.
